We are often asked to inspect and report on defects highlighted by building surveyors when undertaking home buyers and full structural inspections.

Typical defects and situations we deal with include subsidence, cracking, bowing walls, roof spread, uncertified building works and general deterioration of the structure.

With insurance companies becoming ever more cautious when offering cover to properties with a history of subsidence, pre-purchase and reports on policy renewal are becoming increasingly popular. Where sufficient information on previous claims is available we are, with the benefit of a site visit, able to provide subsidence free reports which are often sufficient to allow underwriters to fully insure the property.

If you have noticed a defect with your client’s property, let us know about it. We will first arrange a convenient time to discuss with them what they have noticed.

Once a site visit has been arranged, we will undertake a visual inspection and provide a report not only with conclusions, but with recommendations for next steps and / or further works. If repairs are required, we can put them in contact with contractors who have just the experience needed to put everything right.
